Counselors in Training (CITs)

Counselor-in-Training Program

The Rhodes Grove Camp Counselor-in-Training Program is designed to give emerging leaders a chance to use their God-given talents to serve others while developing their own skills. The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program is a great place to start for those interested in working at camp in the future (though employment is not guaranteed).  Skill development will include: adaptability, effective communication, decision-making, sharing your faith with others, and more.

Who: A counselor in training (CIT) is an individual 13-15 years of age who would like to serve 1-2 weeks as a volunteer at Rhodes Grove Camp

CITs may serve as:

  • Cabin CIT caring for, engaging with, and serving the campers in their cabin

  • Work crew helping to keep our camp clean and well-maintained

  • Kitchen crew helping to set up meals, clean up meals, and wash dishes

  • Media crew capturing camp moments with pictures and videos

All CITs participate in chapel services and all-camp activities such as games and campfires.

Perspective CITs must complete an application and interview process during the spring. They will then participate in training prior to the beginning of camp. CITs may serve 1-2 weeks of camp, depending on availability, during the Adventure or day camp weeks. CITs will stay on camp Sunday-Friday during the camp week they are serving.
